ELLON'S slim hopes of promotion in National League 1 disappeared in the Milntown mud where the Aberdeenshire side lost out to a last-gasp penalty in a nine-try thriller to the exasperation of head coach Mike Avis.

'It was the story of our season,' he said.

'We dominated for long spells, but failed to compose ourselves at key moments.
