BIRD enthusiasts gathered in a Deeside park at the weekend to help monitor the area's feathered population.

As part of the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch, families headed to Bellfield park at Banchory, accompanied by Helen Rowe, the south Marr countryside ranger, to record the species visiting.

'It went really well,' Mrs Row said. 'We saw a number of different species and everyone really got into it.'
