Investigations have been ordered into the alleged biased recruitment of workers at Machakos Council.

Some 50 job vacancies are said to have been filled by close relatives of top government officials, MPs, councillors, chief officers and influential businessmen.

A councillor who spoke on condition of anonymity said that his 15 colleagues were each given two slots to fill during the recruitment.

"My wife and brother-in-law got jobs this way... What has happened is not strange. It is going on every day in Kenya," …
