IT does seem very strange that the city council has chosen now to propose removing bus lanes from Duffield and Kedleston Roads. The cost of motoring is increasing rapidly, so you would think it sensible to encourage those making simple journeys to travel by bus. These proposals will do the opposite.

The new draft Local Transport Plan, on which consultation has just finished, says "bus priority and traffic management measures have an overall net positive effect". It also says that bus patronage has improved since 2006.
