Old bus struggled to get pub social club members up the hill on outing to Crich.

BACK in the 1960s and 1970s, John Harley was secretary of the social club at one of Derby's well-known pubs.

This lovely photograph shows club members off on a day trip in a 1911 Leyland bus.

"When I was secretary of the social club at the Blue Pool pub on Stenson Road, we hired the bus for an outing to the Crich Tramway Museum," said John, of Riddings Street.

"It was a close call going up hill near Crich!" John said he thought the photograph was taken in either the late 1960s or early 1970s.
