Philippine military keen on expanding Brunei ties.

Outgoing Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen Ricardo A David Jr said yesterday he is optimistic for the continued participation of Brunei in the International Monitoring Team in Mindanao.

"His Majesty (the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam) is hopeful for the peaceful resolution of the peace situation in Mindanao. I am grateful that His Majesty the Sultan consented to an audience (with me). It was an experience.

"I was excited for the opportunity to be in audience with His Majesty," the general said in a breakfast interview before he departed for Singapore after a three-day farewell call on Brunei.
