[Statement issued by Chief of Defence Staff Lt Gen Philippe Mangou on UN forces in Abidjan on 23 January; read by Army spokesman Hilaire Babri Gohourou - live or recorded]

Following the instructions given recently by the chief of defence staff to the patrols of the Defence and Security Forces of Cote d'Ivoire to henceforth search the vehicles with the abbreviation UN because of the established complicity of the UN Operations in Cote d'Ivoire forces with the rebellion, this foreign force has changed its strategy in order to move about freely and thus escape checking.
