CONNECTED gadgets or devices such as mobile phones and touch-screen tablets today contribute towards the increased activities in mobile Internet and application consumptions. The current scenario provides abundance of opportunities for a major breakthrough for mobile app content providers even in Malaysia.

WITH THE MAJORITY OF MOBILE consumers using mobile phones for more than just talking, smart phones are increasingly setting the pace for mobile content consumption. The mobile marketplace is clearly at an inflection point.

Spoilt for choices, a majority of smartphone users subscribe and consume applications (apps) just like they use Internet on the PC. For some, it's even more. ABI Research a market intelligence company specialising in global connectivity and emerging technology based in the US, expects annual mobile application downloads to continue increasing and to peak in 2013, with Asia becoming a key market.

With North America and Europe slowly reaching maturity after experiencing a period of high growth, emerging countries in the Asian market are expected to take the spotlight.
