Firth flick up for 12 gongs THE King's Speech is set for a stutter triumph at the Oscars after being nominated for a dozen gongs.

Colin Firth, who plays stammering George VI in the low-budget British flick, leads the way in the nominations announced yesterday.

He is up for Best Actor while fellow Brit Helena Bonham Carter, 44 - his Queen - is nominated as Best Supporting Actress.

Hollywood sources say 50-yearold Colin, most famous as Mr Darcy in both Pride and Prejudice and Bridget Jones' Diary, is odds on to add an Academy Award to the Golden Globe he won for the role earlier this month.
