New wind turbine helps airport make its own power.

A NEW wind turbine has been successfully installed at Bristol Airport and has already started generating power.

The vertical axis turbine is part of a pilot project to look at the use of renewable energy at the airport. The turbine began harnessing wind power earlier this month.

The Quiet Revolution turbine was partly funded with a grant of GBP39,000 from the South West Regional Development Agency.

It has been built on the approach road to the terminal building.

At 20 metres in height, the wind turbine is shorter than lighting masts already in place across the airfield, and it does not interfere with radar …
