Philippines: Arroyos want to criminalize lending of motor vehicles to drivers without license.

Section: General News - Irresponsible vehicle owners who permit persons without license to drive their motor vehicle will soon be penalized once a bill criminalizing the offense is enacted into law.

Former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and son Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado Arroyo authored House Bill no. 1581, which seeks to curb the rising incidents of accidents caused by inexperienced and unlicensed drivers.

The measure prohibits any person from permitting a motor vehicle owned or controlled by him to be driven by a person who does not have a valid driver's license issued by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
