On 21 December 2010, the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the draft resolution on the United Nations Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non Custodial Measures for Women Offenders, widely known as the Bangkok Rules, by consensus.
