The Institute of Energy Management Research has released a report entitled 'Human Capital Challenges in the Indian Power Sector' which reveals that the sector will require five lakh technical personnel and over 1.5 lakh non-technical personnel in the XI and XII Five Year Plans. Consequently, the Ministry of Power, Government of India and the Central Electricity Authority have initiated the 'Adopt an ITI' scheme to encourage power companies in the public and private sectors to enhance and upgrade the training assets and resources of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) located near project sites with a special focus on trades relevant to the power sector.
