BATO, Camarines SurVenus Raj, 4th runner-up in this years Miss Universe pageant, has showered her family with graces from her earnings, unloading a lot of weight from her mothers shoulders.
Esther Bayonito, 60, said she no longer worried about debts, food on the table and other deprivations that her family had suffered before her daughter won major beauty pageants.
Our family had a painful experience in our community. Because of our poverty, we were talked about behind our backs. We heard comments about our poor state, like our inability to own a lot for a residence and the debts we owed to many people, Bayonito said.
Neighbors in San Vicente have changed since Raj competed in the Miss Universe pageant. The community now gives Raj celebrity treatment every time she drops by her house.
