Qatari government-funded, pan-Arab news channel Al-Jazeera satellite TV at 1334 gmt on 27 December carries in its daily "The Midday Guest" talk show programme a live interview with Dr Muhammad al-Hindi, leading figure in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, via satellite from Gaza City, by anchorman Abd-al-Qadir Ayyad, in the studio.
Asked whether or not the Palestinian resistance has learned a lesson from the Gaza war, Al-Hindi says: "Israel threatens to strike the Gaza Strip but cannot destroy the Palestinian people and their resistance." Israel, he says, "was used to curbing the region within a few days and sending a message to all parties that it has the final word but is no longer able to curb the Palestinian people or even a Palestinian child." Since the 22-day Gaza War, he says, "the Zionist government has failed to repair its tainted image as a criminal gang."
