The Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura, has suspended the Rapid Response Unit operations commander and instituted two committees to investigate allegations of extortion, torture and mismanagement of cases.
The first committee, which comprises Special Investigations Unit and Police Professional Standards Unit officers, will investigate the suspended RRU operations commander, Mr Nixon Karuhanga, according a message sent to police units yesterday.
While another headed by the Criminal Investigations Director, Mr Edward Ochom, will investigate RRU operatives, Mr Nathan Byona and Mr Julius Kwikiriza on the similar allegations.
