BEVERLY HILLS Mark Wahlberg, who studied boxing champ Manny Pacquiao as part of his training for The Fighter, and Black Swan, a film lensed by Filipino-American Matthew Libatique, were among the Golden Globe Awards nominees announced early Tuesday morning at The Beverly Hilton.
The announcements were made by Katie Holmes, Blair Underwood and Josh Duhamel, along with Miss Golden Globe 2011 Gia Mantegna (daughter of actor Joe Mantegna) and Phil Berk, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which votes on the awards.
HFPA is composed of journalists representing publications from around the world with a combined readership of 250 million. The nonprofit organization gives over $1 million annually in grants, donations and scholarships from the proceeds it receives from NBC for the right to air the show.
