Ghana, Chinese firm sign 6bn-dollar pact to fund modernization of rail network.

The government of Ghana and the Chinese National Machinery Import and Export Corporation has signed a 6.05bn-dollar contract agreement for the construction of railway infrastructure from Nsawam [eastern Ghana] through Kumasi [central Ghana] to Paga [north-eastern Ghana] and from Tamale to Yendi [northern Ghana].

The contract will enable the first and the second phases of the project to commence in September next year and June 2014 respectively.
