THE North Korean artillery attack on Yeonpyeong Island is a despicable act that has been rightly condemned by world opinion.
Whatever the reasons, it is never justified for the North Korean regime to choose to go to war or threaten war as it would not resolve the hardship of its people or bring about genuine reunion with South Korea.
The regime has to take cognisance of the fact that its political and economic systems are not able to bring prosperity to its people and embarking on a misguided adventure would only prolong their sufferings.
