The health risks to individuals screened by X-Ray-based imaging systems that are being used to screen people for concealed threats in some airports in the U.S. and internationally are "miniscule," according to a joint letter from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials who responded to a request from the White House science adviser to describe the safety of the machines.
