BOMB EXPERTS from the Philippine National Police (PNP) have questioned a retired Army officer's claim that the blast in a Makati mall three years ago was caused by a bomb and not a methane gas explosion, as the Justice department yesterday started a fact-finding inquiry into the explosion.

Arturo Cacdac, former PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director, said Col. Allan V. Sollano, then commanding officer of the Army Explosive and Ordnance Division (EOD) which responded to the incident at the Glorietta 2 mall, should have limited his team to clearing the site of other explosives.
