The European Union is funding a research initiative to lower the energy used by electronic devices and extend battery life.

The Steeper project involves scientists at European universities, research institutes and technology companies. They are investigating the use of nanotechnology to reduce the power consumption of devices such as mobile phones, laptops, TVs and supercomputers.
