ANC to push forward with elective conferences THE African National Congress (ANC) announced earlier this week that it will hold provincial elective conferences next month in the North West and the Western Cape, where leadership structures were disbanded because of infighting.

The party in both provinces has been run by task teams that will hold the fort until the ANC's structures are rebuilt. The health of the ANC in the Western Cape is crucial for the ruling party, as it grapples with the Democratic Alliance dominance in that province, the only one it does not control in SA.
