Constitutional Court asked to dismiss mother's appeal Legal Affairs Correspondent THE state has asked the Constitutional Court to dismiss an appeal by a convicted mother of two who is seeking to avoid jail because of the effect it will have on her children.

The mother was convicted of forgery, uttering and fraud in Parys in 2007. She was sentenced to five years' imprisonment on a charge of fraud. She relied on a previous Constitutional Court judgment in 2007, in which the court set aside the custodial sentence of a single mother of three children and replaced it with a suspended sentence.
