MMHE listing may spur interest in oil & gas stocks.

THE eagerly-awaited listing of Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd (MMHE), the first of two listings by national oil company Petronas, may reignite interest in oil and gas stocks, analysts said.

MMHE will be listed on the stock exchange today.

"The oil and gas industry has not had a run in a long time and this listing could spur a re-rating of share price in the sector," OSK Research analyst Jason Yap told Business Times yesterday.

At a market capitalisation of RM5.78 billion, MMHE will be the largest among its peers. The nearest contender is Kencana Petroleum Bhd, which has a market value of RM3.1 bilion. …
