Luxury market becomes worried as values begin to rise in dollar terms

High competition in the property market and the strength of the baht are helping to hold home prices at the same levels as early this year, despite increasing prices for locally sourced construction raw materials.

Property developers say there has been a significant hike in the cost of vital construction raw materials, such as cement, steel and interior decorative materials. But fierce competition means they cannot afford to lift their residential prices, which are now near the levels of early this year.
