Thailand: StanChart economists offers suggestions on how Thailand can take advantage of strong baht.
Section: General News - The baht will be volatile over the next year, not just experiencing one-way appreciation as currently, which will cause more difficulties for policy-makers and private firms, Standard Chartered Bank forecasts, The Nation reports.
The baht is forecast to swing back and forth in the range of 29.50-31 against the US dollar from the fourth quarter this year towards the end of next year.
"Thailand, however, should take advantage of the strong baht, thanks to the persistence of capital inflows, by using strategies for managing a changing world," Usara Wilaipich, senior economist of Standard Chartered Bank (Thai), said on October 21.
