BANK worker Rob Bishop has set his sights on a career behind the microphone after being crowned the winner of Pub Idol 2010.

Rob, 23, of Humberston, picked up the first prize of GBP500 after a closely contested final at the Casablanca club, in Grimsby.

Hundreds of people packed into the venue for the showdown of the singing competition, which is sponsored by the Grimsby Telegraph and Me 2 Raj.

The six judges praised the "fantastic" standard of talent on display, saying it had been almost impossible to choose a winner from the 18 finalists.
