Gathering in Antwerp for the biennial Presidents' Meeting, a meeting of the leadership of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the International Diamond Manufacturers' Association (IDMA), participants stressed that, contrary to earlier reports, the loose diamond sector is alive and well. Indeed, they stressed, the relative stability exhibited by the diamond business during the current financial crisis is largely a result of the role played by the thousands of smaller and medium sized firms that make up the bulk of the WFDB's and IDMA's membership.
