ALEX Salmond yesterday washed his hands of a grandmother facing eviction from her family home to make way for Glasgow's 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Margaret Jaconelli will be given only GBP30,000 in compensation for the home she has lived in for 34 years as council chiefs hand over the land to contractors.

But yesterday both First Minister Alex Salmond and Sports Minister Shona Robison ducked questions over how Glasgow City Council used SNP legislation to forcibly buy the 52-year-old's two-bedroom flat for the knock-down sum.
