Poor refereeing has been cited as one of the major causes of soccer violence in Uganda.This was the admission by the Uganda Referees Association (UFRA) chairman Ali Waiswa at the annual UFRA retreat at Lira Technical College over the weekend.
Waiswa, a retired FIFA referee and a lecturer at Kyambogo University, revealed that a survey conducted with fellow lecturers at Kinyatta University in Kenya indicate that 55% of the soccer violence in Uganda is caused by lack of knowledge of the laws of the game by the footballers, fans and other stakeholders.
