Govt offer to New Komeito raises eyebrows

A New Komeito member has been recruited for a government task force to deal with the HTLV-1 virus, it has been learned, a move some view as an attempt by the Democratic Party of Japan-led ruling coalition to build an alliance with the opposition party.

According to sources, Yasuyuki Eda, a House of Representatives and New Komeito member, will join the task force to discuss countermeasures against the Human T-lymphotropic virus Type 1.
