The European Commission is questioning Poland's gas contract with Russia. By imposing a contract on Warsaw that is at odds with the Community law, Moscow is undermining gas market reforms in the whole of the EU.
Deputy Prime Minister Pawlak is flying to Brussels in a week in an attempt to persuade EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger to give the green light to the agreement between the governments of Poland and Russia on the principles of the operation of a transit gas pipeline in Poland and gas supplies to Poland.
