Lawmakers have approved a major overhaul of the Judiciary, in a deliberate restructuring exercise aimed at removing judicial bottlenecks and speed up service delivery.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) endorsement comes after Secretary to the Judiciary Dorcas Okalany wrote to the committee detailing the steps Judiciary authorities were taking to ease service delivery. "Judiciary should be overhauled immediately for people to enjoy their right to a speedy trial," PAC Chairman Nandala Mafabi told Saturday Monitor yesterday.
