from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- Political parties and non-governmental organisations have called for a thorough investigation into the paint- splashing incident involving a surau in Negeri Sembilan yesterday.

They called on the perpetrators to be held responsible for their action and and also for the public not to create unnecessary tension or turn it into a political issue.

Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin said in a statement that any attempt at desecrating places of worship was unacceptable.

He called on Muslims to be calm and not get themselves entangled in polemics and speculation over the issue.
