Philippines: Meralco open to possible merger with other power companies.

Section: Business News - Distribution utility Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) on Monday said it is willing to tie up with other distribution utilities (DUs) or electric cooperatives as part of its expansion.

"Maybe we can invest, maybe we can bring our people to them, our track record," said Meralco chief operating officer Oscar Reyes.

Reyes said the company is also open to share their technical expertise to the DUs and ECs.

"I think we have the experience of efficient distribution management. We have the financial resources. We have the facilities. We have the people. What we would like to do is if see if we can offer that to other areas," Reyes said.
