Retailers warned vs overpricing sugar.

THE GOVERNMENT has warned traders against selling refined sugar beyond the current P52-per-kilogram suggested retail price (SRP), amid reports this commodity now sells for as much as P60/kg in many outlets.

This, as the Agriculture department is still awaiting the Trade department's decision on the proposal the former submitted last Friday for higher guide prices for sugar, Salvador S. Salacup, spokesman for the Department of Agriculture said in a telephone interview yesterday.
