SARAWAK HIDRO ALLOCATES RM2 MLN TO CONSERVE FLORA AND FAUNA AT BAKUN DAM.
from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency BELAGA, August 9 (Bernama) -- Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd (SHSB) has set aside RM2 million to conserve the flora and fauna that may be lost once the impoundment of Bakun Hydroelectric Dam starts.
SHSB wildlife manager Mohd Samsudin Mohd Suri said the company, developer of the Bakun Dam project in collaboration with Sarawak Forestry Corporation, has executed the wildlife monitoring and rescue operation plan for Bakun reservoir of 695 square kilometres.
He said the preparation and rescue works, catering for both plants and animals, has been carried out since May last year and was progressing smoothly.
