Alan Ball is dying to stay in business with HBO.

The creator of the pay cabler's earlier hit "Six Feet Under" and current smash "True Blood" will helm the greenlit pilot "All Signs of Death," based on the Charlie Huston crime noir novel "The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death."

Ball will exec produce and direct, with Huston penning the pilot. Production is set to begin next month in Los Angeles. No cast has been set.
