THE COMMANDANT of the Marine Corps will not stop senior Marine officials from testifying in the soon-to-be-created Truth Commission on the military's alleged involvement in an election scandal six years ago.

"If the Truth Commission will call for them [officials], they are obliged to appear before the commission," Maj. Gen. Juancho M. Sabban told reporters in an interview yesterday.

"Following the doctrine of the chain of command, [the officers] should appear before the commission. If they want the truth, the Marines will give them the truth," Mr. Sabban added.
