A MEMORIAL bench has been placed on the roof of Derby Multi-Faith Centre to honour a city man who was former national director of the Prince's Trust.

The seat, specially commissioned from Indonesia, was unveiled following a memorial service to commemorate the life of Sir Harold Haywood.

The 86-year-old, who died after a long illness, was instrumental in raising money to create the GBP2.9 million Multi-Faith Centre, in Kedleston Road. He was a former director of the Prince of Wales' Trust and the Royal Jubilee Trust, where he struck up a friendship with Prince Charles.
