Echoing economic statistics that suggest Germany has moved out of a recession, Dusseldorf airport says cargo traffic rose 4.2 percent for the first six months of 2009 compared to the same period last year. The French and German gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.3 percent during the second quarter of 2009 according to official data released on August 13. French Finance and Economy Minister Christine Lagarde commented, "The data is very surprising. After four negative quarters France is coming out of the red."
