Afghans have always wished for a democratic government throughout the course of history, but they were able to experience democracy for the first time during King Zaher's government in the early 1940s. Following the collapse of the royal government, Sardar Mohammad Daud, King Zaher's cousin took over power and put an end to the royal regime in the country. Now, Afghan history calls the last decade of King Zaher's government the last democratic decade our people experienced at that time.
