KUALA TERENGGANU: Fed up with the delay in selecting a contractor to clear the collapsed roof of the Sultan Mizan Stadium, Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said yesterday took the state Public Works Department (PWD) to task.

He said he had repeatedly asked the department to speed up work as the stadium was scheduled to host the Terengganu Youth Gathering in September.

"I am puzzled by the delay in selecting the contractor as it is just clean-up work. If it was up to me, then I would select the one with the lowest quotation," he said.

Ahmad said the stadium had became an eyesore and embarrassment for the state.
