PSEi rises as market awaits inauguration.

Stocks rose higher yesterday as the market looked forward to the inauguration of President-elect Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III today.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) gained 0.26% or 8.81 points to 3,372.71, its highest since it touched 3,447.29 on Jan. 15, 2008.

The broader all shares index rose by 0.23% or 4.95 points to 2,145.51.

Trading volume declined but value increased, with 2.124 billion shares worth P3.591 billion changing hands, from 4.248 billion shares worth P2.21 billion on Monday.

Foreign buyers outperformed sellers for the third straight day by P465.713 million.
