Centre extends RBOD completion date further to 2012.

The federal government has again extended the completion period of the Rs 29.20 billion Right Bank Outfall Drain (RBOD) for two years due to lack of funds for the project, it is learnt. Sources told Business Recorder on Tuesday that the project had to be completed by the end of 2008, but the completion date was extended by two year to June 30, 2010. But lack of response from the Centre and stoppage of funds for the project left it in cold storage for past four years, they added.

Now, the federal government has set June 30, 2012 as completion date for the project. However, the salinity and waterlogging caused by non-implementation of this project …
