PEW report: IP gas project will boost Pakistan economy.

Iran-Pakistan (IP) Gas Pipeline Project has the potential to transform Pakistan into an Asian Tiger. It can also help resolve the water dispute with India, said Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Sunday.

IP gas project will not boost Iran's economy and influence to a level that is unaccepted by United States (US). Tehran will never emerge as a monopolistic supplier; it is not a wildcard in the hands of Ahmadinejad.

Americans are opposing the project as they have perceived the project as a threat to their monopoly in the region but have failed to offer any alternative, said Dr Murtaza Mughal, President PEW in a press statement here. Washington needs to understand that …
