Teijin Pharma will considerably raise the number of its MRs within 2010 from around 650 currently, in line with the commercialization of the hyperuricaemia and gout treatment febuxostat. An application for febuxostat was re-filed with Korosho in Dec 2009. Febuxostat is being positioned as one of the company's global strategic products. Teijin targets global sales of Yen 100-160 bn at the peak for febuxostat, including Yen 40-60 bn each in North America and Europe, and Yen 15-20 bn in Japan. Meanwhile, Teijin's Pharmaceutical and Home Health Care division registered a 3.6% year-on-year gain in consolidated sales to Yen 131.7 bn for the FY ended Mar 2010.
