THE PHILIPPINES STANDS TO LOSE SOME P11.4 billion in non-humanitarian and non-trade assistance from the United States if the government does nothing to improve its standing as a Tier 2 Watch List country in the current edition of the US State Departments Trafficking in Persons report.
The report is released annually in compliance with the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, monitoring foreign governments efforts to eliminate severe forms of human trafficking. Each country is assessed on how its government complies with the TVPAs minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking and suggestions for additional government actions.
