IN 2007, the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) announced the establishment of the Malaysia Animation Creative Content Centre (MAC3) with its' mission divided into talent development, shared facilities, funding and creating awareness. Three years down the road, with all the funding and strategy, did we meet the KPI? THE MULTIMEDIA DEVELOPMENT Corporation (MDeC) is investing RM150 million to place Malaysia's creative industry onto the global stage through the Malaysia Animation Creative Content Centre (MAC3). The ambitious task to position Malaysia as a leading provider of creative digital content sees that RM70 million was allocated for the facilities and programs while the rest of the portion goes to co-production funding for games and animation projects.
As the content industry becomes more of a significant growth area for the country, MAC3 is expected to help boost the country's wealth creation in the long-run and increase employment opportunities for creative talents in the country.
